Why has America let the Republican party get overrun by Neocon loonies like Sarah Palin and Donald Trump?

There's nothing more disappointing than a bunch of well-intentioned young rebels coming out to protest the free-market when the crisis was nothing more than a deliberate sabotage of the economy to discredit capitalism and push for world governance. The Republican Party has lost its way, so the uneducated masses roamed towards socialism. Now that they see this fails, hopefully they are waking up to this 2 party nonsense. If there are no good republicans running (which there won't be) and Ron Paul runs as a third party, he may make it. I think his chances severely decrease when he runs with Republicans.
